I was messing around with my old 1967 Gretsch 6120, Verl. I was in thought about the state of the world. I was wondering if I really wanted to spend $3500 on producing a vinyl record for our last album when things were so uncertain in the world and the economy. Buy you know what? You can't let things like that stop you from doing what it is you know you want to do. So that's what the song is mostly about. Go and get what you want and do what you love, before it really is too late. Before politicians and wars start to destroy everything that's good. Oh well, Bombs Away!

Bombs Away - by P.N. Neville

Well he laughed at everything and it all felt good
Things proceeding like he knew they would
Break out the bottles, pour a drink or two
Popping corks and platitudes

“I have no comment, I have nothing to say”

As he smugly pushed the microphone and then walks away
And if he keeps dropping turds
On those who wanna be heard
It won’t work out in the end
Someone’s gonna get hurt
Maybe not tomorrow, maybe not today
But he can hear them chanting as they say

Bombs away

Now he’s got himself an ever growing enemies list
He’s blowing all our money
And not on the kids
But the wife doesn’t mind, she likes spending the time
With her kids but she remembers a place in her mind
When he still gave a damn
And they both had a plan
Now coming home feels like entering foreign lands
She wonders where today
As he’s driving away
So he never has to hear her say

Baby, Bombs Away

So go and get what you want and do what you love
Before they release the hawks and cage all the doves
This is your time, this is the day
And you know what you want, so you just gotta say
Oh, baby, Bombs Away!

Bombs Away

Yes, he sold us everything and we knew he would
With his big fancy words stroking that ego good
But slowly over time he’s changing his line
And we’re feeling some oppression, just another bad sign
And if he keeps throwin brown
On those who are down
They’re gonna rise up in the street
And burn it all to the ground
But he just smiles and waves
Because he thinks that he’s safe
But he’ll wish he’d listened when they’d say

Oh, Bombs Away

So go and get what you want and do what you love
Before they release the hawks and cage all the doves
This is your time, this is the day
And you know what you want, so you just gotta say
Oh, baby, Bombs Away!
